WAYS OF OBTAINING COMMUNICATION EFFICIENCY

Mihail ORZEAŢĂ1    << Back to contents

Abstract
Effective communication can help people accomplish
various established goals as well as avoid failure during
any kind of interpersonal relations. Effective communication
depends on the people involved in conversation, especially
on the one who leads the way. The environment, the scope
of the meeting and the expertise and experience of the
public relation expert and leader play a significant role in
achieving effectiveness in interpersonal communication.
Effective communication is necessary for all individuals.
Public relation experts and leaders cannot be proficient in
their jobs if they do not possess the significant
communication skills of transmitting vision and messages
in order to influence other people. Any individual who
wants to effectively communicate with the others must
follow the advice of the experts in this field. He should get
involved in a process of learning, experience active
listening, solve problems and conflicts, and have a positive
and understanding attitude towards other peoples’ needs.
Also, he should smile and display a tactful behaviour.
Keywords: language, nonverbal communication,
influencing people, active listening, positive attitude,

FOLKLORE AS FORGING A MEANS FOR KURDISH NATIONAL IDENTITY

Ramazan PERTEV1    << Back to contents

Abstract
“Thankfully: we also have a rich language and a farreaching
literature, an ancient history, a crowded
population, and a big country like heaven. Any nation all
over the world doesn’t have a land as wide as ours. From
past to present day, we haven’t let our language and
customs to melt away. We have continued our existence
under the other nations’ heel and compulsion. It means
that we intrinsically owe everything. One would wish that
we pull our socks up and glance around.” The article
dwells on the relation between folklore studies and Kurdish
National identity. In this article, according to the modern
nationalistic theories, we have researched the writings of
some Kurdish highbrows that are related to Kurdish, and
all of them date back to the first quarter of 20th century.
How have the recollection and the course of events for
Kurdish highbrows grounded? How have they put these
fundamentals into use in order to expand awareness of
national values and to revive Kurdish identity? This article
looks for an answer to these questions.
Keywords: Kurd, identity, folklore, literature, highbrows.

THE REFLEXIVITY OF A LANGUAGE (SOME COMMENTS ON GÖDEL AND WITTGENSTEIN)

Virgil DRĂGHICI1    << Back to contents

Abstract
In its special forms of self-reference or diagonalization,
the reflexivity of language leads to the paradoxes. How do
we manage these paradoxical constructions? In order to
answer the question I take two paradigmatic cases: Gödel
and Wittgenstein. Even if in both cases the starting point
is the same, the Russell’s Paradox, as section 2 of this paper
shows, the managements of these constructions are very
different. In the first case we speak about fundamental
results of mathematical logic with substantial philosophical
applications: the limitative theorems. Section 1 exemplifies
how to construct a Gödel-type sentence using the Diagonal
Lemma, and proves its undecidability in Peano Arithmetic.
Section 3 argues how the diagonalization leads, via Kleene’s
Theorem, to the Turing form of Gödel’s Theorem, the core
of Lucas/Penrose Argument. In the second case, instead,
as section 4 shows, the same procedure of diagonalization
suppresses the reflexivity of a language in Wittgenstein’s
Tractatus, leading finally to the self-suppressing of the
philosophical discourse.
Keywords: reflexivity, self-reference, diagonalization,
paradox, Gödel, Wittgenstein.

MEDIA OWNERSHIP, FUNDING AND CHALLENGES:IMPLICATION FOR STATE OWNED MEDIA SURVIVAL IN NIGERIA

Abstract
This study examines ownership, funding challenges and
its implication for state media survival in Nigeria. The
study adopted two research designs- survey and focus
group discussion. The participants comprised of 66
registered journalists from Taraba State Broadcasting
Service (TSBS) and Taraba Television (TTV). The
researchers examined the entire population in order to
totally eliminate sampling error. The instruments used
for data collection were the questionnaire and the focus
group. Sixty-six (66) questionnaires were distributed to
the sampled population. Out of the sixty-six (66)
questionnaires, sixty-two (62) questionnaires which
constitute (94%) were answered correctly by the
respondents, while two were not returned and three
were not aptly answered hence rendered void.
Furthermore, a focus group discussion was conducted
on the 5th of November 2017 with six participants from
each media station that forms the sampled population.
The people who took part in the focus group discussion
were reporters and other top management staff. The
data collected were analysed both qualitatively and
quantitatively. Intrinsically, the data collected through
the use of questionnaires were analysed via the 2016
Microsoft statistical package using simple frequency
counts and percentage, presented in arithmetic tables.
Also, the data collected from the focus group were
analysed qualitatively and this involves an in-depth
description of the participants’ responses. The findings
of this study established that government-owned media
in Nigeria are currently in a very poor state economically,
managerially, technologically and politically. In
addition, misappropriation of the fund, shortage of staff,
lack of modern/adequate equipment management, poor
salary, inadequate funding and employment of nonprofessionals
were discovered to be the major challenges
affecting media outfits in Nigeria. In this view, this
study suggests that under-funding, which is
unfavourable to the operation of state-owned media
should be avoided.

INDUCING PEOPLE MANAGEMENT SKILLS IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE ORGANISATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Mitashree TRIPATHY1    << Back to contents

Abstract
Studies suggest that globalization has brought drastic
changes in business economy, technology and information
transfer.Cultures have collaborated and so have
organisations. No organisation can run without people.
People of different personalities, principles, areas of
interests and cultures have come in close proximity to
work together and achieve their goals. Although they work
under one roof, their views and opinions do not always
match and therefore personality clashes occur. Their
moods vary as well as their working styles. At such an
expository state, managing people has become a restless
job. Nowadays, managers need to possess strong people
management skills with the aim of managing people,
fostering productivity and achieving organisational
excellence. The managers ought to possessoutstanding
skill sets and learn to develop approaches to coordinate
work and maintain harmony in the workplace. This paper
focuses on the qualities managers must carry in order to
create a better work atmosphere and bring about
productivity at the workplace.

THE ROLE OF COMMUNICATION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE INFORMATION SYNAPSES OF THE FREE PRACTICEOFFICE

Abstract
Among the most effective and modern methods to keep
patients conveniently and properly informed in the social
field are the websites dedicated to the practice office. The
approach and use of a properly dimensioned, sufficiently
synthetic in data and permanently reliable computer
application modernizes and at the same time performs the
work program of the health care professional in that it
becomes more flexible, efficient and effective in the
therapeutic area and but also in the area of economic or
financial results or research. It can be unequivocally
appreciated that there is a true medical IT world that needs
to be properly identified in order to maintain the office in
the current information area. Only in this hypostasis do we
really know what is happening and especially what can be
to anticipate that they will become at certain expectations
the highly computerized virtual fields and to what extent
they are going to influence the medical knowledge, the
diagnosis, the therapeutic practice or the proper recovery
of the quality of life. The technical-medical component, in
an unprecedented dynamics, as well as the associated
medication, have a dynamic trend, sometimes divergent in
relation to the skills of the specialist, that compels him to
the knowledge and proper use of computer applications.
The medical performance and malpractice as tangible
realities to this period lie in relation to the patient, to the
legal norms and the medical deontology in a much
modified philosophy in relation to the benchmarks of the
previous decade. As such, for all the iterative aspects,
rigorous analyzes are required and applied decisions in
connection with the information vector practiced in the
field.
Keywords: mobile computer applications, free practice,
medical informatics, virtual fields.

ESP TEACHING AND THE ESP TEACHER – ARE THEY BETTER OR ARE THEY JUST DIFFERENT?

Adrian BRUNELLO¹, Florina-Elena BRUNELLO²    << Back to contents

Abstract
The majority of Romanian high-school students who
study English need it for travelling, for business and some
of them for pleasure. That is why they must be properly
prepared and aware of the fact that they have to pay
attention to their English teacher. A teacher who teaches
in vocational schools plays an important role in the life of
the students because he must adapt the teaching style
according to their needs. The teacher should use a mixture
between the ESP teaching style and the normal teaching
style. The important issue here is whether or not these
teaching styles present important differences and therefore
being an ESP teacher represents a significant competitive
advantage in today’s highly globalized society.
Keywords:English for special purposes, teaching techniques,
general English teaching, ESP teaching.
